Dr. Schweickert is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in evaluation and treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. She earned a BS in biology, a BA in psychology, and an MD from Creighton University. She then completed a residency in psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in child psychiatry at the University of California in Los Angeles.
Since completing her fellowship in 1996, Dr. Schweickert has been in private practice and holds an adjunct clinical faculty appointment at Duke University. Dr. Schweickert’s areas of expertise include diagnosis and treatment of child and adolescent disorders such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder, and autism spectrum disorders. Medication options for all psychiatric disorders are a particular area of expertise, as Dr. Schweickert works with area pediatricians and other mental health professionals to integrate comprehensive treatment. Dr. Schweickert also serves as Medical Director of 3-C Family Services.
Dr. Schweickert was recently recognized by the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh for her humanitarian and medical work in Honduras, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. She has also assisted in medical disaster relief in Haiti and Thailand and serves on the Orange County Board of Human Rights and Relations.
