Be Body Positive Group
These groups provide a comfortable, non-judgmental space for individuals of all identities to explore their relationship with body image, food, and exercise.
About the Be Body Positive Groups:
These support groups are based on the Be Body Positive Model* which teaches five Competencies to help individuals develop resources and a renewed energy to take care of their body. Clinical studies show that this model increases self-compassion, reduces anxiety and depression, and fosters a positive relationship with one’s body image, food, and exercise.
The goals of these groups are to:
- Promote resilience, empowerment, and body appreciation by teaching middle and high school aged individuals the practical skills needed to support themselves with self-compassion, an attuned relationship to the body, sustainable self-care behaviors, and positive connection with others.
- Teach concepts and coping strategies that support individuals in facing adversity without internalizing the difficulties and traumas in their lives and experiencing self-loathing and conflicts with their bodies and self-care.
